Today is Mary and Kitty’s last day at SFC, and we are very sad to see them go. For the past year, they have been serving as part of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps program, where they perform a year of service and live in the community in which they work.

Mary has done a great job this year of serving as our Volunteer Coordinator. She will most miss the community at St. Francis Center, because community building is an important part of giving our guests a support system as they realize their own potential.

“St. Francis Center truly is more than just a soup kitchen or a food pantry. It’s a place of friendship, of support, of stories, and of kinship. I will certainly be carrying that focus on community with me as I move on from SFC.”

Kitty, our Resource Specialist, helped begin our case management services in order to provide our guests more comprehensive assistance. She is grateful to have had the chance to get to know our guests, because their resilience is powerful to watch.

“I have been shown so much kindness throughout this year, and will cherish all of the bonds I was able to form with our folks.”

Because of her work at SFC, she is now inspired to pursue a Master’s in Social Work and continue to work toward a more just and hopeful world.
