SFC Officially Kicks Off Summer Camp!

We have officially kicked off our Youth Summer Camp Program, starting with Cooking Camp, Family Fitness, and Family Movie Night!

St. Francis Center’s Campership Program is part of our year-round programs that provide health and stability for the extremely low-income families we serve through our pantry services.  We offer programs throughout summer that leave a lasting impression on youth by not only connecting them with nature, but by engaging them in a variety of activities, including weeklong, overnight camp, art classes, nutritious cooking, and sports and activities, that can open their eyes to new opportunities and a brighter future.

This week during nutritious cooking camp provided through Leah’s Pantry, youth are learning about the importance of nutrition and “eating a rainbow” of foods.

This summer, SFC will send 400 disadvantaged youth to overnight, weeklong and day summer camps and provide them with enriching activities during the summer.

Did you know it only costs $50 to send a child to day camp?

This week, we hosted a volunteer event with SoCal Gas, where 48 volunteers took the time out of their lunch break to help make kits for our summer camp and sandwiches for our homeless guests. These volunteers made 120 summer camp kits, more than 500 sandwiches, and raised $1,075 in just one hour during the event!
