Volunteer Spotlight-Meet JP!

March 30, 2016 • JP, one of SFC’s most dedicated volunteers, has been Serving Hope to our guests for 2 years. Every week JP makes an hour drive from his home in Hermosa Beach to help distribute groceries to the extremely-low income families and individuals that utilize SFC pantry services. A fluent Spanish speaker, JP is able to communicate with all guests and fellow volunteers enjoy his friendly personality and positive attitude. He is also known to bring in out of town guests to volunteer during their vacations! Find out more about JP in the interview below:
JP with a friend from Chicago and fellow volunteer Ellen.

Why did you want to volunteer at SFC?
Winston Churchill’s quote, “You make a living by what you get, and a life by what you give,” has always resonated with me. I think that it’s really important to give back.
What is your favorite part about volunteering?
All of the people that I meet at SFC are awesome – the staff, the other volunteers and especially the guests. I love interacting with everyone and sharing a laugh.
Are you involved in other ways through SFC?
Whenever a friend is interested I like to bring them with me to volunteer and see what the Center is all about. I also love following SFC on Facebook and seeing all of the guest spotlights that are posted. I think it’s really interesting to see the stories of people who I meet at the center.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to stay active and explore whenever I can!
What is your hope for the future of SFCLA & our community?
I hope that SFC can continue to grow and reach more people. I want the Center to be able to stay connected with the community and true to their mission.
