Exciting Program Extensions at SFC in 2016!

January 20, 2016 • SFC kicked off 2016 with a new weekly satellite pantry service at a local parish and school that we have partnered with in the past, Immaculate Conception School.
Our goal is to register 50 families initially and eventually serve up to 100 low-income families in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Traditionally, SFC’s Pantry Service has served parents, children, individuals, seniors, veterans, and disabled members of the South Park, Garment District, Pico Union and North University Park neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Last year, we expanded our service area to 10 square miles of neighborhoods in and around downtown Los Angeles to meet the rising need for pantry services. This year, SFC will now also include all of zip code 90011 in South Los Angeles.

As the number of guests referred from communities outside of SFC’s service area increased, we recognized the need for satellite programs. Approximately one third of guests are single mothers and many do not have transportation to carry groceries home, making it difficult to utilize services their families so desperately need.
